WHAT'S COMING IN 2010? (As of July 2010) It's only summer, but plans for the 2010 season are already being made. The day after Christmas I hit the stores for discount lights, and scored over 10,000 more lights. I purchased another 7,000 from a PlanetChristmas forums member, bringing my grand total to about 32,000 lights, up from 2009's 15,000. This spring saw the purchase of another 4 light controllers, giving me a total of 96 channels of control, up from the 32 I had this past season. I still need a few dozen extension cords, many of which I intend to make myself this summer. Unfortunately, with this great increase in light count comes a great increase in power demand. Figuring that every 4,500 lights require a 15 amp circuit, 32,000 lights will require ~106 amps, or 8 circuits. This summer I plan to install a bank of 6 dedicated receptacles in my basement, near where my controllers will be mounted, and place a piece of PVC pipe through the wall to run cords out to the yard. This will free up many long extension cords, and having the controllers inside will hopefully prevent what happened this past year. A date for this year's Christmas in July has already been set, and preparations will begin for that within the next few weeks.
